As noted by other reviewers, this is a great campground. We have a 27 ft motorhome and found the road and sites tight but very doable. The shuttle is very convenient. Reservations are definitely a good idea, particularly during high season. We drove through the full-hookup campground and definitely would not want to stay there. Very close and trashy. To correct a prior post, generator hours are from 8 until 10 a.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. That is a bit restrictive since we wanted to be out hiking earlier and often wanted to be out to dinner during the evening hours. But, we made it work.
From our view this is the best park in Las Cruces. We have stayed at a much more expensive park and definitely not worth the extra cost. It is a fairly quiet, fairly dark park. Everyone we have come across working at the park has been very good. We have our favorite site here and it has always been available. The park is close to everything in the city. Would recommend staying here.
Good campground in Alpine. Folks here are all nice and helpful. They heavily use folks that work in exchange for a camp site. Clean campground with some nice views. It is a good place to stay for a night or extended. We have stayed here three times now and all have been good. If you want to stay here during cowboy festival, then you will need reservations.
What a wonderful place. Now, this park is not for everyone. If you like bright security lights right outside your RV, if you like the sound of highways, or if you like the noise of close neighbors, this park is not for you. If you like profound quiet, peace, and darkness then try this park. You must make reservations: no drive bys, but it is well worth the extra effort. It is like being at a very exclusive resort or visiting a great relative that actually likes you. We could look out our front window and see Bighorn sheep. We could see great birds all around. It is only a short drive to the Cat Walk (great). This park is not easy to find: it is closer to mile marker 56. There is a very small sign after you turn, that says Sundial road. You will drive a total of about a mile to the park. You will pass a road on the right that says 519a. You will pass two signs that say road closed ahead. You will come to a gate with notices that you should not pass if you do not have reservations. You will be thinking how do I turn around if this does not work. Finally you will come to a great site with only eight RV sites. When we were here, we had no other campers: wonderful! The hot springs: you have to let your host know that you want a bath. It is extra of course, but well worth the cost. We stayed here three nights and did the hot springs every night. We had a totally private pool under the stars: wonderful. So, if you want an interesting experience with quiet, dark, and wonderful views, do give this place a try.
We stayed at Greer's for two nights on our way out of the Grand Canyon. It was convenient to a new Camping World in Bellemont where we had some repair work done. It is also very convenient to the Flagstaff Mall where we wanted to do some shopping. We did not have reservations, but were able to get in without any problem. We arrived mid-day. It would be best to make reservations since it seem to get quite busy later in the day. The gentleman at the front desk was quite polite and helpful. We wanted a site where we could get satellite television which is not easy because of all of the tall pine trees. He drove us around in his cart so that we could use our compass to find a "TV friendly site." We were successful in finding a nice level site which worked well for us. In our site there was very little road noise. It was very quiet and peaceful. Even though it looked like most of the sites were filled with long term residents, most of them were not present during October. There would probably be a lot more traffic during the summer. We used the laundry and it was fine. We never use the pool, showers, and other amenities offered by other campgrounds, so their lack was not a problem. It was perfect for our two night stay. We would stay there again.
Both Sunset Campground and North Campground are within Bryce Canyon National Park. The North Campground is reviewed elsewhere. In Sunset CG, Loop A is for RV's. Loops B & C are for tests only. Sunset CG has fewer RV sites than North and the sites tend to be smaller and not as level but it is still a great CG. It is a little more out of the way, so tends to be a bit quite. It is actually more convenient for the shuttle than North CG and it is quite easy to walk a short distance and be on the rim where most of the hikes start. It is a little more removed from laundry and showers, both in the General Store, than the North CG, but you would likely want to drive in either case. Sunset is not recommended for really large rigs, for that go to North.
This is a wonderful state park, close to the Mexican Border. The bird watching is great. The sites are great and it is nice an quite. This is desert scenery.
